I am an independent metalsmith and jeweller with a passion for ethical and eco-friendly design. I make and sell unique artisan jewellery from natural materials, my favourites being eco sterling silver, recycled gold, ethically sourced gemstones and ancient fossils.
My company is Turtle Spirit Jewellery and I am best known for my hoops and studs for piercings but I also love making one of a kind adornments.
I come from a family of creatives and was always encouraged to experiment and play with different materials from a young age. My interest in jewellery was sparked when I used to rummage through my Mother’s jewellery box as a young child, fascinated by the colours and shapes of all the sparkling treasures.
But it wasn’t until the age of 19 as a young Mum myself that I decided to start making jewellery of my own. I hadn’t intended to start a business but simply enjoyed the pleasure of making something tangible with my own hands. However, slowly but surely my hobby turned into a thriving business and a successful online shop.
I started with simple wire working and beaded jewellery but after attending a City and Guilds short course, I fell in love with metalworking tools and techniques. Building tiny pieces of art from flame and hammer was exhilarating and exciting. I knew this would be my chosen career for the rest of my life. Many of the skills I have were self taught from books or videos and I’m always looking to further expand my knowledge of this ancient and fascinating craft.
Having recently moved to Bournemouth, I hope to have some jewellery stocked in various shops around Dorset as well as my online shop. You may also see me at the occasional local market and craft event throughout the year.
I love designing and making custom orders so contact me if you have an idea or a favourite gemstone you would like made into an heirloom piece of jewellery.
